It’s our mission to research what best supports leaders to become climate leaders.
Led by researchers at the University of Oxford and funded by the Askehave Climate Foundation, we will use rigorous research methods to understand how and why already successful climate leaders advocate climate action. We will use these findings to support other influential individuals on their climate-leadership journeys.
We will provide free, research-based development opportunities to groups of aspiring climate leaders from politics, business and sport: people who want to explore how they can lead by example on climate. New insights about public views of climate leadership will also be created, shaping the global conversation.
Talking about climate action is not yet normal. We want to change this.
For too long, climate silence has pervaded public forums. Many leaders worry that talking about their climate actions will make them unpopular, lose them votes, followers, sponsorship or business.
Politicians, sportspeople and business leaders are uniquely placed to influence other peoples’ attitudes and behaviours around climate change. By empowering leaders with additional skills and the confidence to share their own climate stories, we will help break the climate silence.
So how can you get involved?
We’re looking for two groups of people:
-
Established climate leaders: People with a history of taking climate action and advocating in their spheres of influence;
-
Aspiring climate leaders: Influential individuals who aren’t quite at the stage of talking about climate change & their actions publicly, but want the information and support to help them do so.
If you feel you fit into one of these categories please reach out to us on climateleaders@eci.ox.ac.uk
We will be creating a range of development opportunities for emerging climate leaders, led by expert organisations including Climate Change Coaches and Climate Outreach. More details to follow as our work progresses.
